Lucky # 20

I remember the times that I used to go to my soccer games and I would play against a girl named Heather O’Reilly when I was in middle school.  During these games, my father would always tell me to play like her and have heart like her, when we didn’t even know her personally.  Then, I started playing against her in high school while being older and mature and I realized that she is all about the game and wants to be the best that she can be.  During one of the games that I played against her, her coach came up to me and actually made me feel really good about myself when after the game he said “You are great player”.  It didn’t mean as much to me then, then what it means to me right now.  I mean, Heather is now an all star player on the US team and for her high school coach to recognize me and give me recognition made me feel superior.

Heather not only is a very good athlete, but she is very smart receiving high honors in the classroom.  She was Most Valuable Offensive Player in 2003 and 2006, first team All-American, and in 2006 named College Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  I want to congratulate her for all of her honors and also about having her # 20 jersey being retired from University of North Carolina.
